VEURVE CLICQUOT - WIDOW SERIES

I was invited by Tom Hingston to collaborate on his take of the Widow Series this year.  The concept was based on a journey through Mme Clicquot’s life using British subcultures as a framework.

The room I designed explored  wonderful the story of a shipwreck through the medium of the soundsystem. In 2010 divers investigating a shipwreck off the coast of Aaland in the Baltic Sea discovered 47 bottles of Verve Clicquot  which dated back nearly 2 centuries. The Haul represents the oldest drinkable champagne in the world. The resulting installation was a sunken crated sound system created complete with the smells of the deep sea and a soundtrack courtesy of Neneh Cherry.
